Welcome to the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering

The Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering produces cowboy poetry and music events in multiple locations across Texas. With our roots and heart in the Big Bend and our traditional venue at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, we are expanding in 2026 to Bastrop, near Austin. Our 2026 Gathering will be Feb. 19-21, and we will have performers and chuckwagons in both towns on that weekend. (NOTE: The two host towns are over 400 miles apart. You will need to choose a location to attend.)

Our designated weekend in Alpine is the third Thursday - Saturday in February each year. Mark your calendars now for future years!

Our five live events since 2020 have included more than 40 performers (poets, songwriters, instrumentalists, humorists, storytellers, and more) at each event. Two of our Saturday night shows have sold out the 700-seat Marshall Auditorium at SRSU. We have also produced two films of cowboy poetry and music.
