The 2023 Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering was great! This year we had a show rodeo on Wednesday evening benefiting the SRSU rodeo team, two afternoon shows and a night show each day, and 33 free sessions from 34 performers. In addition to the great poetry and music we normally present, our Saturday night show was Charlie Goodnight: His Life in Poetry and Song, featuring 21 performers.
And don't forget the delicious chuckwagon breakfasts and cowboy suppers! Both were perfect opportunities to socialize.
If you can, consider making the trip to West Texas for 2024. It's a beautiful time in the cool, crisp mountain air of the Big Bend region, and the atmosphere in our small town is electric when so many talented people are in one place.
Although there are some wonderful restaurants in Alpine, getting a table during the Gathering can be a challenge. Therefore, we've again chosen Roux Alpine, a local caterer with 5-star reviews, to offer suppers at the Alpine Civic Center. You can purchase supper tickets when buying performance tickets. Seating is limited and tickets may not be available onsite.
Chuckwagon Breakfasts
A chuckwagon breakfast of biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and coffee will be served each morning outdoors at Poet's Grove. Tickets are $5 (tax included). Long johns optional but recommended.
