Howdy friends!

Are you listening to Matt Robertson today?

Matt Robertson is a cowboy, songwriter, singer, poet, and thinker now based in Prescott, Arizona. He's been writing and playing music for over 20 years, inspired by his life as a cowboy and horseman. Better known further west, his profile in Texas is steadily rising as people get to hear the music he's creating.

His 2024 album, Arizona, took home three awards from the Academy of Western Artists at their Dec. 2025 awards show, and his new album (Too Pretty for the Wagon) should be on your list of new work to check out. We presented him with the Buck Ramsey Award at Alpine in February.

Softspoken and wry, Matt writes great story songs that stick with you: about places "too windy for most" ("Yavapai County"); a barrel racer rushing to the rodeo ("Photo Finish"); a Western woman who "never listens when people try to tell her what she's doing can't be done" ("Race That Train"); horses; an Arizona cowboy in love with a ranch woman in Alberta ("Arizona"); advice to a young cowboy ("Finer Kind"); and many more.
