Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering - Alpine, TX - 3rd weekend Feb

10/21/2019 Update

New logo!

Hot off the forge is our newest milestone, and a very important one: branding the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering with an official logo! Our logo will be the first thing you see when you visit our website or look through printed materials, and it's what you'll remember: an image that captures the vision of our Gathering and evokes the cowboy spirit.

Choosing a logo is easy, right? About as easy as herding chickens. A logo is like a cattle brand. Think of the XIT or the 6666—well-known brands of two historic Texas ranches. In the same way, our logo must be simple, easy to recognize, and unique.

Our first draft ended up with a beautiful image . . . which, as we discovered, was far too similar to some other trademarked logos currently in use. So it was back to the drawing board! A talented artist, who chose to remain anonymous, generously donated time and artwork to help us create the perfect image. In the end, we earmarked LSCPG with a most fitting design: a bold, five-pointed Texas star nestled close to the name, "Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering."

You'll notice no rust on this lone star. It's brand spanking new, just like our gathering. It's distinctive as well—not a perfect, symmetrical star, but what you might call a bit "cattywampus." (For any of you unfamiliar with that term, a definition of cattywampus would be the arrangement of those chickens all over the barnyard after you've tried to herd them.)

There you have it! Stop by our website to check out our logo (and updates as well!). We're proud of our new brand, just like Charlie Goodnight must have felt the first time he stamped that smoking iron on the hide of his own critter. From online media to brochures to magazines in front of countless readers, we expect to see our star branded on a large herd!
